UTC Breakfast to Feature IM Flash Co-CEO David Baglee

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SALT LAKE CITY, June 16, 2008 – The Utah Technology Council (UTC) announced today that David A. Baglee, Co-CEO of IM Flash Technologies, will be the keynote speaker at its first Utah County Breakfast of the year at Thanksgiving Point on June 26, 2008 from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. Baglee will speak on “Adapting in the Global Marketplace."

“We are eager to hear from David Baglee his experience and expertise on doing business in the global marketplace,” said Alan Hall, UTC Chairman. “He understands the important role technology plays in the global marketplace and his leadership in co-leading the joint venture between Intel and Micron magnifies this understanding.”

Baglee is responsible for co-leading the joint venture between Intel Corporation and Micron Technology, Inc. He is also Vice President of the Flash Memory Group for Intel Corporation. Baglee joined Intel in 1987 where he has held engineering, manufacturing, and factory management roles. Most recently he was Plant Manager for Intel’s NOR Flash memory wafer fab in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Baglee has published numerous technical papers in the area of semiconductor processing and is the holder of 17 patents.

Utah landed Micron’s globally sought semiconductor fabrication plant in 1994. The plant was expected to create a large number of high-paying jobs and provide the small town of Lehi, UT with many economic benefits, but within a year the plant was left nearly empty because of unexpected market changes. Micron used the facility at this limited capacity for nearly a decade but never fully utilized the giant facility. The recent venture with Intel has enabled the plant to work at its full capacity and also brought the sought-after economic benefits to the community.

According to Baglee, Utah possesses many unique qualities that make it the best fit. “Utah’s business-friendly environment along with its excellent talent pool made the decision to locate here an easy one,” said Baglee. ”I believe these same factors will lead more and more businesses, both national and international to relocate and establish Utah as their base of operations.” Baglee also said that the existing facility in Lehi was a key factor in sealing the deal.

Those who would like to attend the breakfast can register at the UTC Web site. The cost is $30 for UTC members and $60 for non-UTC members. All are welcome to attend.
